Slam Entertainment Caught Up with Dan McLean Jr, He is a Talented Musician From Canada. Checkout what He has to say in His Interview Below:

Slam Ent: What is your name? Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Dan McLean Jr: Dan McLean Jr. I grew up on a farm in southern Canada. I decided to become a musician because they were so cool!

Slam Ent: How did you come up with your Stage name?

Dan McLean Jr: It’s my real name.

Slam Ent: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration?

Dan McLean Jr: I get a lot of inspiration from films, so whenever I’m in a theatre, I’m sure to have a notepad & pen in hand. Other times, the lyrics are inspired by other songwriters, when a catchy phrase of their’s speaks a phrase from me, and I build a whole lyric from there.

I’m really glad you asked me that, because I think it’s really important to understand your influences. I think songwriters are all part of lineages, and those lineages are kinda a songwriter’s family tree. Musically, I’d say inspiration comes from some of my favourites artists, and although some folks might not hear the similarities, I know there are bits of Hall & Oates, Steely Dan, Todd Rundgren, and even a bit of Tower Of Power in a couple of the other songs that’ll be on the album.

Slam Ent: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

Dan McLean Jr: On Feb 12, I released my first single & video, “I’ve Seen Love”, available at over 30 download & streaming sites.

The next song, “Let’s Stop Hurting Each Other”, is ready, and the video is being edited right now. I act in it, which is a whole new thing for me, because I had a director, a film editor, and cameraman & lighting designer, an actress, and a makeup artist. I’m pretty excited to be able to get that out to people.

Slam Ent: Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Dan McLean Jr: In the spring & summer of 2016, I hope to be able to record the rest of the album. Eight more songs. I think I feel a Kickstarter coming!

Slam Ent: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

Dan McLean Jr: Starting this spring, I’ll be doing shows with just me on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, plus three backup singers. Most artists seem to start by adding a band, but voices are such a huge part of the sound, and the songs are actually written with backup singers playing important roles. Sometimes, they sing lines on behalf of the woman I’m singing about, or they voice my internal thoughts. Backup singers definitely had to be my first upgrade for the songs on this album, and the singers that have joined me are outstanding.
